Embrace culture at a festival. Although most of the big music festivals have finished, they tend to only attract the young hipsters. For a more mixed crowd head to one of the festivals which celebrate London cultural life, such as the Festival Brazil on the South Bank which celebrates all things Brazilian until 5 September, the Thames Festival from 11 – 12 September which is a colourful carnival that winds its way along the Thames, or even the Notting Hill Carnival over the August bank holiday. Notting Hill Carnival is regarded as the most exciting event in the city and sees hoards of steel drums, spectacular floats and huge sound systems as well as delicious Carribean food, so it’s not to be missed if you’re in London on 29 and 30 of August this year.

There are many castles scattered across the lands of England, but none can seem to match the beauty behind the Leeds Castle. This is one castle that has maintained all its beauty since 1119, when it was built by Robert de Crevecoeur.
Many people travel to the Leeds Castle each and every year to get a feel of the beauty that we’ve all seen and heard of over the years. This is one castle that has been very popular for use in films and television, including the very popular show, Antique Roadshow which recorded two episodes back in July 2008 on the Croquet Lawn of the castle.
Tourists have the ability to access the grounds of the Leeds Castle. It has become a leisure destination for many with the vast amount of things to do. The castle grounds have not only a maze, but also has an aviary, a grotto, a golf course and the world’s only dog collar museum.
Now conferences can be held at the Leeds Castle and each year there is seasonal hot air balloon flights for travelers held. The Leeds Castle still holds all its beauty and historic sights, but really does cater perfectly to the tourist economy. Adventuring through the Leeds Castle is a must if you are traveling to England and surrounding areas, you’ll love every minute of it.

Behind the walls of York, along with a flourishing town, are 2,000 years of Roman, Viking and Medieval heritage. Known as "an archaeologists delight," the treasure trove of York began as a massive fortress housing 5,600 Roman soldiers. A thousand years ago, Vikings scaled the Roman walls and built enormous oak structures. During the reign of Richard III, new churches, shops and houses lined the paved lanes. Today, the bulk of the town's history of soil and construction, but unearthed fragments and fascinating recreations offer a window to a long and picturesque history.
