Day 1. Arrive London / Private Dinner Cruise
Tour departs: 11:00 AM from London’s Heathrow Airport. Your accommodations for the next four nights are at the luxury five-star Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, close to Hyde Park and Oxford Street in the West End. A brief sightseeing tour introduces famous sights such as Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Join us this evening for a welcome reception and dinner cruise aboard a private boat on the River Thames. Meals LD Day 2. Windsor Castle / Westminster Abbey Journey to Windsor Castle, home to British royalty for more than 900 years; see St. George’s Chapel, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, and, schedule permitting, the State Apartments. On your return to London, a guided tour of Westminster Abbey reveals a treasure trove of great art. Meals B Day 3. Tower of London / Tea / The Sound of Music in the West End See the Crown Jewels on a visit to the Tower of London, which served as castle and prison to some of history’s most notable figures, and take a ride on British Airways’ London Eye, which is the world’s highest observation wheel. Experience two beloved English traditions today when you have afternoon tea and attend a performance of The Sound of Music at a West End theatre. Meals BL Day 4. Guided Visit to the British Museum Join us for a guided visit to Britain’s largest museum, the British Museum, renowned for collections of antiquities, art and artifacts from prehistoric times to modern day. Spend the afternoon and evening as you wish. Meals B Day 5. Eurostar, First Class Train to Paris Travel first class aboard the sleek Eurostar under the English Channel – and arrive in the city of Paris in just a few hours. View Paris’ landmark attractions on a city sightseeing excursion this afternoon prior to dinner at a Parisian restaurant that boasts great views. Meals BLD Day 6. Explore Versailles and Montmartre Journey outside of Paris to the 17th-century Château de Versailles built during the reign of Louis XIV, the “Sun King”; visit the State Apartments. Lunch at a charming Parisian restaurant is hosted by the granddaughter of Gaston Leroux, author of The Phantom of the Opera. A walking tour of Montmartre, haunt of writers and artists for centuries, is followed by time at leisure. Meals BL Day 7. Musée du Louvre / Paris View some of the world’s greatest collections of prints, antiquities, paintings, sculpture, and drawings, including the Mona Lisa, on a guided tour of Musée du Louvre. Join us tonight for a farewell dinner cruise along the River Seine aboard Tauck’s private boat. Meals BD Day 8. Journey Home Tour ends: 9:30 AM at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport. River Thames Cruise Enjoy a private dinner cruise along the River Thames, viewing historic sights and bridges.
